![]() But I also don't want to wait four extra months and spend $18 extra dollars per book. ![]() I don't want to send in a dozen modern books and have the same thing happen, especially when the dents, if any, are super small. I was burned in the past when submitting a bronze age book without a press, and the notes on my 7.5 were full of comments about dents that I couldn't even see. Some are books that I plan to keep (Invincible 1, UXM 129), and one (an IDW "Con" exclusive from this summer) is going to be a Christmas gift. Most of the things I plan to send are duplicate modern books (ASM4 - Silk, Vengeance 1, Young Avengers 1) that I picked up for a couple of dollars each over the last few years, and now I hope to keep the best copy of each and sell the undercopies. On the other hand, I sent four modern and two silver at Wizard World Chicago, paid a company to collect nine signatures plus the fees for the sigs themselves ($55 for Stan Lee, $10 for Chris Claremont, $20 for Neal Adams x2) and the total on all of those was $362.I joined CGC at the middle level and am preparing for my first self-submission. I recently sent in three silver age Batmans, fast tracked them (+$10 per book to cut the time in half) and it cost $174. Silver age are $35 per book + all the fees, so roughly $50/book. Obviously, the more you send in the less expensive it is per book once the fees are split up. So if you sent a single book, it'd run you around $35-$40. Modern books (1980+) are $18 per book + $5 processing fee per batch sent in + shipping both ways. Their pricing is a bit confusing because of all the fees, but it makes sense once you understand it. You can't send books in on your own, you have to go through an authorized dealer (most local comic shops) or do it with them in person at a convention.Īs far as feeling secure, I believe they're insured once they're sent off. Just want to find out what everyone else thinks of the CGC Industry. Please post your own, share your experiences. Granted, CGC will always add value to your book, granted it's within a generally accepted grade, but then you personally lose the value of reading it, of truly enjoying the art work and the medium for which it was intended for.Īlso, right now I think CGC is on an 8 month backlog which is crazy! I imagine it's because everyone is sending in every single Zenescope cover they own because that's a majority of what I see slabbed.Īnnnnnyyyways, this is merely my thoughts. ![]() Having said that, I DO NOT think you should go out and CGC every single #1 book in your inventory, because well, some just are not going to be worth it. Very key books that were printed on paper that just wasn't really made to last by todays standards. Such as Detective Comics 27, Amazing Fantasy 15 and so on. This is just my personal opinion however, I believe that getting SOME books CGC'd is a great investment.
